Riann (aka Rikki) competed in the National Junior Olympics held in San Jose, CA last June 29th at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, it was a very competitive event, there were over 3,000 competitors that competed in a week time, and a lot of Jubilations and tears.
Riann competed in both Sparring and Poomsae event for the 10-11 yr old Female Red Belt Division, There were 16 competitors in the Kyorugi (Sparring) event and 46 in the Poomsae (Forms). She lost her first round fight in sparring with a very close 1-2 score, she got scored on at the last 20 second of the fight. She on the other hand showed her competitive edge in detail and grace in the technical and creative event of Poomsae, Riann's big gap in the final score shows what a difference hard work and practice can achieve. Riann had prepared for months before the National competition and have always practiced her movement accuracy with Poomsae Coach Mama and with Coach Papa for the Technical details.
Next Year, Riann will focus more in Sports Poomsae, she would be competing in the even more competitive Black Belt Division.
